10-on-10 | December

I have had the great fortune recently to join a group of fellow photographers for a project called 10-on-10.  <– If you click on that link you will be taken to the originator of the project and a much better description of its meaning and purpose.  The short explanation is that we (the 10 of us) are to pick a day to take one picture every hour for 10 hours.  Then we will post these pictures to our blogs on the 10th of every month, linking to each others posts to complete the circle of 10.  This is a project that is supposed to give photographers a chance to shoot just for themselves…  and to have some memories of their own to show for all their half-hazard camera wielding.

But also – the “rules” are pretty bendy, thank goodness!  So sometimes there will be ten of us… sometimes not.  Some of us may post 10 pictures… some of us may post a number quite different from 10.  Some of us may take one picture every hour for 10 hours… some of us may take 10 pictures during the best minute of our entire day.  You get the point.  We’re a pretty flexible group.  But don’t ask me to do yoga.

We are however, posting on the 10th.  Hey, the world needs structure… we’re just trying to do our part.

As it turns out, this past week was such a special one for me and my daughter, Sophia.  Our kitchen was under construction (wait for it…) and my husband and I deemed our house “not at all child proof” (wait for it…) and Eric (<– the husband) wanted to be able to use his power tools without worrying about what dust got where (here it comes…)  So he sent us off to a hotel for four glorious nights!

Room Service, people.  And someone else MAKES THE BED!  And brings food TO YOUR DOOR.  And it’s not pizza.  Unless you want pizza, in that case I’m sure someone would bring you pizza.  And it’s clean… and child proof… and best of all… NOT under construction!  (For all of you wondering, no, I am not currently loaning out my husband… he’s got a kitchen to finish after all!)

It was such a special Mommy & Daughter vacation and I am so very grateful to have had that time to bond with Sophia.  And I am also so grateful for this 10-on-10 group, because I honestly don’t know if I would have taken so many pictures otherwise.  I am going to cherish these memories and photos for a lifetime.

Okay… enough sap… on to…

Sophia’s Favorite 10 Things to Do on Vacation!

#1  Breakfast in Bed!

#2 Rock Climbing!

#3 Keeping Chin Down to Avoid the Paparazzi.  (You did this A LOT.  You enjoy your privacy.)

#4 Riding the Elevator!  Oh how you loved to ride the elevator.  You are so independent and adventurous, and you never even want to hold Mama’s hand
- even when the ground is moving beneath you.

#5  LUNCH!

What does a cow say?  Moooooooo!

A little light reading before the main (and only) course.

#6 Taking in Our Beautiful Surroundings!

#7  If you’re happy and you know it Clap Your Hands~ By the Fire!

#8 Playing on the Balcony!

#9 BATH TIME!!! This was your absolute favorite.  You have your Mama’s love of water.  And since the weather was too chilly for the pool, we sometimes played in the bath twice in one day!  SCORE!

Your least favorite thing to do on vacation?  Get out of the bath.

#10 BUBBLE GUPPIES!!!  Cuz everyone needs to wind down just a little before ni-nights.

And while you were sleeping… Mommy enjoyed a top secret part of Mommy/Daughter vacation…

I miss living like Oprah already.  But be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home…

Now please visit my new friend Renee Bonuccelli to see what she’s prepared for us on our very first 10 on 10!  Enjoy the circle!

Dear Jrnnifer,
We just arrived home from Anna Maria Island and St. Augustine this week and the thrill is seeing your photography which Eric sent to me which I hadn’t seen before we left in Jan.
Your work is perfection and I’m so proud of what you’re doing. I think you’ve got so much talent and it all looks like it’s fun doing it. Ever think of doing notes like Anne Getty’s, for sale? I’d love them.
How nice that you and Sophia had a mother/daughter vacation together (at the Ritz, did Eric mention). Did he do a good job with the tile in your kitchen? Send me a picture.
You both seem to be enjoying your life as family and we’re so happy for you and proud of you. Sophia Ann is such a doll and so good natured! We can tell there’s lots of love there.
Love,
Olga and Carl too
Love,
